“The technology makes us faster... the right industry-specific tools, and human oversight are what make us confident enough to use it on live matters.”

Founder & Managing Attorney
A personal injury lawyer who has spent her career on the law and on the systems behind how cases are run — and built Onx so clients get the benefit of both.
(01) — Profile
Monica Washington Rothbaum built Onx Law because she believed personal injury clients deserved a better-run law firm: one that evaluates every case on its own, builds the right team around it, and keeps it moving with care.
“I’ve spent my career at the intersection of law, business, policy and technology. My JD taught me to analyze the case. The MBA taught me to build the system. My public affairs training taught me to understand people and institutions. Operations is where all three come together. The result is a simple philosophy: measure everything we can, automate what should be automated, and protect the human judgment and connection that should never be automated.”

(02) — Biography
Monica has spent her career practicing law and working on the systems behind how personal injury cases are evaluated, managed, developed, and resolved. Onx Law is the culmination of that experience.
She began her legal career with clerkships for Justice David H. Souter of the United States Supreme Court and Chief Judge Harry T. Edwards of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. She went on to hold leadership roles in domestic and multinational corporations, law firms, and nonprofit organizations, with work spanning litigation, business, operations, public policy, and technology — including hands-on work modernizing how personal injury firms serve their clients.
At Onx, each part of that background shows up in the client’s experience: legal judgment in how a case is evaluated and argued, operational discipline in how it’s managed, technology that keeps the work organized, and the human connection that keeps clients informed and supported.
A graduate of Harvard University, Princeton University, New York University School of Law, and Rollins College, Monica brings more than two decades of legal, executive, and operational experience to Onx Law. She is admitted to practice in Washington, D.C., Florida, Maryland, and New York.

(04) — On technology
Monica is interested in what technology can make possible, not what it can replace. Technology alone isn’t the answer; better tools, data, systems, and training make for better work only when human judgment, accountability, and trust stay at the center.
