For law firms
Building the right legal team around every case.
Onx Law represents injured people directly, and works with carefully vetted firms when another firm’s geography, specialization, resources, or experience would better serve the client. If your firm shares our standards for client care and ethical practice, we’d like to hear from you.
(01) — About Onx
A personal injury law firm, built around each case.
Onx Law is a personal injury firm serving Florida, Maryland, Washington, D.C. and New York, founded by Monica Washington Rothbaum. People come to Onx after an accident, often unsure where to start, and we evaluate each case to determine the right strategy, legal team, and resources for it.
Onx Law may represent the client directly. We can also work with, co-counsel with, or refer matters to carefully vetted attorneys when another firm has the particular geography, specialization, resources, or experience that would better serve the client. Our intake is modern, mobile-first and available in English and Spanish, and we keep communication clear from the first conversation.
(02) — How we work together
How a matter reaches your firm.
Intake
People reach Onx online or by phone, in English or Spanish. We gather what happened, where and when, the injuries involved and the treatment so far.
Review
An attorney-led review looks at the facts, the applicable law and potential conflicts, then determines whether Onx Law will handle the matter directly, with co-counsel, or through a partner firm that would better serve the client.
Build the team
When co-counsel or another firm would better serve the client, we consider jurisdiction, practice area, case type, resources and capacity. With the client’s consent, we share what your firm needs to evaluate the matter and run its own conflict check.
Collaboration & updates
If your firm accepts the matter, roles, responsibilities and any fee arrangement are confirmed in writing with the client, as the applicable rules require. We stay in touch as the case moves forward and ask for regular updates, so the client knows where things stand.
(03) — Why partner with Onx
What partner firms can expect from Onx.
- 01
Organized intake
Referrals come with a clear summary of what happened and the details gathered at intake, so your team can evaluate the matter efficiently.
- 02
Attorney judgment on fit
Each referral reflects an attorney-led review of where the matter belongs, not an automated match or a list of leads.
- 03
English and Spanish intake
Intake in English and Spanish helps more injured people reach counsel and understand how the process works.
- 04
Informed clients
We explain the referral process in plain language, so clients understand who will handle their matter and why.
- 05
Shared standards
Work alongside firms that share a commitment to responsiveness, clear communication and ethical practice — the standards Onx holds itself to.
- 06
Ongoing collaboration
We look for lasting relationships built on trust, with open communication on both sides from the first referral onward.
(04) — Qualification & vetting
What we look for in a partner firm.
We review each application individually and may ask for more information before a firm joins. Partner firms are expected to meet these standards for as long as they take part.
- An active license in good standing in every jurisdiction where the firm will handle referred matters
- Current professional liability (malpractice) insurance
- Relevant experience in the practice areas and types of matters the firm accepts
- Prompt, clear and respectful communication with clients, including regular case updates
- Conflict checks completed before accepting any referred matter
- Compliance with the rules of professional conduct, including the rules on fees, advertising and confidentiality
- Willingness to confirm roles, responsibilities and any fee division in writing with the client
Every referral and co-counsel arrangement is made in line with the rules of professional conduct in each jurisdiction involved, including Florida’s specific rules for dividing contingency fees in injury cases. Any division of fees is made only with the client’s informed consent in writing, reflects the work each firm performs or joint responsibility for the matter as the applicable rules allow, and keeps the total fee reasonable.
